Body Work

Massage

Lucinda is best known for her ability to listen to your body and create a unique massage session that supports your physical, mental and emotional needs.

She blends Swedish therapeutic massage, Thai massage stretches, supported yogic pose, Dynamic Cupping, Tragger style and Trigger point therapy and Lymphatic drainage.

If required she supports sessions with intuitive counseling, guided meditation, deep listening and pattern awareness. She also incorporates essential oils depending on each individual.

Lymphatic Drainage

The lymphatic is the system within the body where all toxins and unwanted materials from the blood go to be removed. I often equate them to the garbage removal system in the back alleys of our homes. Lymphatic comes from the Latin word lymphaticus, meaning “connected to water,” as lymph is a clear fluid. The Lymph is also a transportation system for white blood cells to and from the bones as well as other immune support cells. It also transports our digestive fats to the blood stream after absorption in the small intestines.

The tonsils, adenoids, spleen and thymus are all part of the lymphatic system and there are 700 lymph nodes in the human body that filter and clean the lymph before it returns to the circulatory system. If the body were under infection, lymph nodes swell by making extra white blood cels to kill off incoming pathogens. Major areas of lymph nodes can be found in the neck, underarms, abdomen, groin and back of the knees.

Unlike blood, which flows throughout the body in a continuous cycle, lymph flows in only one direction which is toward the neck within its own system. Also unlike the venous system which has a heart to pump blood, the lymph is pumped through muscular contraction only.

If the lymph is not circulating well this can cause: congestion, infection, allergies, edema, cellulite, skin conditions, acne, fatigue, feeling of heaviness, swelling, nausea, breast tenderness, headaches, inflammation, arthritis, mental fuzziness, depression, elimination issues (bowels/urinary), slow healing or recovery from sickness.

There are many reasons that the lymph may not be moving well through the body such as: Low physical exercise, low water intake, allergies, shallow breathing, compromised immune system, certain constitutions have slow lymph, another weak execratory organ (kidneys, bowels,
bladder, liver, skin), surgery or toxin overload.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a very gentle massage technique that supports manual lymph release. In this session Lucinda will start by manually draining all the major lymph nodes mentioned above with a gentle rhythmic pressure and pull movement. Then she will use a flushing massage technique moving from the feet up towards the heart and neck to drain excess fluids back into circulation. She will also customize a blend of natural essential oils of lemon, lime, grapefruit and/or geranium will be used in the massage oil to stimulate lymphatic drainage.

It is always recommended to drink 10+ glasses of water the day before your treatment, the day of and for the next few days after to support the release of toxins and limit the side effects of detoxing without enough water in the system such as headaches, dizziness and nausea.
It is also recommended to stop alcohol or recreational drug use 24 hours before your session to reduce toxin load.

This session is also great for additional support during Detox Programs.

Reflexology

Reflexology has been found in ancient cultures around the world. From Rome to Egypt to Asia, working on the feet & hands has shown to improved overall health and wellbeing.

There are a few theories to suggest how reflexology works:

Many nerves end in the feet. Over time and with the help of gravity, crystals created by metabolized waste, toxins and access minerals make their way down and form around the base of the nerves. This can cause blocked communication to the brain on positions of the body, needs for increased/decreased circulation, health of lymphatic system and much more. This can also impact electrical potential through out the body.

It is also said that it can impede the ability for the human body to ground effectively to the earth below us. Reflexology can break up those crystals, stimulating the whole body to receive more communication, more circulation and support.

* In the ancient traditions of Chinese, Ayurvedic, Egyptian and beyond, they work with energy meridian lines and acupressure points in the body that connect to every physical organ, and system in the body. Also taking into account the emotional, mental and spiritual levels within and around the individual. Reflexology works with this premise as well. There are reflex points on the foot, ears and hands for every system in our body, therefore stimulating these points helps to bring balance and rejuvenation to all organs and systems.

We cannot forget the simple and basic truth that human touch, from one person to another, is healing is so many ways we can’t possibly describe or understand. It has been shown that Reflexology is not as effective when preformed on yourself.

My experience working on the feet of ages 0-90 is that there is a communication that occurs from my heart to the person. Being in contact with their feet, it is a vulnerable and real place. A place underestimated in yet supports us through all our lives. A place that has so many stories. A place of our strength, how we stand, connect to our power…maybe there is a reason for the similarity between SOLE and SOUL. When I work on the feet, the whole body relaxes, the person feels safe, held, seen. Can I explain why? no, do I need to, not really.

Soul Massage

Ceremony and spiritual rites of passage were a sacred journey in ancient cultures. The whole community supported these transitions and helped prepare with bodywork, family support, meditation, ceremonies, music, and integration practices. These days we are moving through transitions very quickly, but the passages go unmarked and the need for support greater.

Soul Massage is a technique woven by Lucinda that supports the body’s natural ability to transition, move through and process your experiences. It relaxes & prepares the body to surrender and release, to open and receive.

It utilizes grounding, gentle touch and movements to slow down the mind and help you connect to your body and breath. This type of session continues to evolve with each experience.

Energy Work

Energy Session

It is no secret that the oldest medicine systems in the world are based on natural rhythms that move through all things in yet we can’t tangibly grasp it all. It is nice to see our Western technology starting to be able to measure that which before was given little attention beyond our 5 senses. Energy. Now we enjoy radio waves, x-rays and ultrasound waves, none of which you can see but impact us none the less.  We all are able to recognize that our thoughts can impact our emotions, and our emotions are expressed through the physical body. What you may not have explored yet is the experience of the Spirit / Energy level in your day to day.  When the pilot flame of your spirit is low, like a fire, everything else is low.

Energy work with Lucinda provides a sacred, safe space to be present with all the bodies. Sometimes this requires shining the light on dark places inside. This can include the uncomfortable, unexpressed, unrealized, untapped and unknown. We all live different journeys and live a myriad of experiences “good and bad”.  Depending on how we have learned to process these emotional, mental, physical and spiritual experiences can set the tone for our overall wellbeing and health.

Energy sessions with Lucinda are unique for every person and different every day. They can include: sound healing, guided imagery, storytelling, breath & body awareness, communication from your Spirit, totems, soul fragments or guides, intuitive insights and always caring touch.  These sessions can provide a sense of awareness, new perspectives, calm and courage.

Herbal Medicine

Herbal/Nutritional Consultation

The plant, mushroom, animal kingdoms and all the food we eat aren’t as different from us as we think. They have as much connection to Spirit as we do; they also have a mental, emotional, spiritual and physical body. Only difference is we’ve forgotten our connection and they have not.

What I love most about working as a Herbalist is how each plant has a personality, a presence in this world. They have a print you could say in this world that is uniquely theirs…just like us.
What I experience is if you match a plant with a person carrying a similar presence, healing happens, and often in more ways then anticipated. It was Samuel Hahnemann the founder of homeopathy, who coined that name from the Greek words for “similar suffering”, speaking to the system of healing where “like cures like”.

He understood that the human body is a magnificently wise body that knows how to heal itself.
This is also the point of view of most ancient healing practices of the world.

Panchamahabhoot Theory of Ayurveda says, “The basic premise is that the entire cosmos or universe is part of one singular absolute. Everything that exists in the vast external universe (macrocosm), also appears in the internal cosmos of the human body (microcosm) and when healthy is in harmony, is self-perpetuating and self-correcting just as the universe is.

Tibetan medicine’s basic theory, “is to maintain or restore the balance of the three subtle energies of the body. The long-term causative factors of these three energies are the three poisons of attachment, hatred and closed-mindedness.”

In Chinese Medicine, “The Five Elements theory (wood, fire, water, metal, earth) is used to interpret the relationship between the physiology and pathology of the human body and the natural environment.”

First Nations Medicine speaks to “ bringing a full circle approach to healing by supporting balance in the mind, body, and spirit with community and environment. Respecting that every part of nature has Spirit and purpose; compassion for others and for self are key.”

These are some of the foundations from where I hold my beliefs and perspectives. I studied the basics of Ayurveda, Chinese, First Nations and European plant medicine as a student at the Wild Rose College, and then went on to apprentice as a Tibetan Medicine student in the UK learning what I feel is the root of my work, which is how to listen to the Body. I also travelled and spent time with Q’ero natives in Cuzco, Peru and have immersed myself in the shamanic perspective to life through First Nations traditions as well.

So when you come to see me for a herbal consultation or ask for support in this way during another type of bodywork, there will be a bigger picture view of the situation in play. I cannot deny that someone’s stomach problems does not also have a mental, emotional and spiritual story at play. I also have witnessed that those stories hold more keys to healing than just working physically. We are collective beings even if it doesn’t always seem that way, so I know even that my presence is an important ingredient in what healing can occur, even in me as I help another. If you are ready to come and explore the fact that this body of yours is telling you something on many levels versus expecting to only approach a fix for a physical ailment, then I am the Herbalist for you.
